AI Lyrics to Song: Turn Your Words Into a Performed Track
Have a poem, a verse in your notes app, or a full set of lyrics you wrote yourself? This guide walks through how to turn any lyrics into a fully performed AI song using Toxic Sound's Unrestricted Producer plan — no music theory, no DAW, no vocalist required.
Why an AI lyrics-to-song generator?
Most AI song generators write the lyrics for you from a short prompt. That's fine if you just want a track about a vibe — but if you've already written words that mean something, you don't want an AI paraphrasing them. Toxic Sound's Producer tier is built for the other case: you supply the lyrics, the AI supplies the performance. The words that get sung are the words you wrote, in the genre and vocal style you pick.
Use the Vocal Creator for a stronger performance
Choose Male or Female first, then use a preset as a complete starting voice. Refine it with the five controls: Range sets pitch and weight, Tone sets warmth or brightness, Grit sets cleanliness or distortion, Delivery controls phrasing and intensity, and Acoustic Environment sets how close, dry, wide, or reverberant it sounds.
- Start with the genre. This reveals matching Genre-Specific choices while retaining all Base choices.
- Use Base for flexibility. These values work across genres and are best when the arrangement may change.
- Use Genre-Specific for commitment. These values pull the singer toward the selected style.
- Respect the mix warning. Follow its recommended switches for a coherent singer, or approve the mix when the contrast is deliberate.
- Adjust one control at a time. This makes it easier to identify which setting shaped the finished vocal.
In your own lyrics, open Vocals for this section under a Verse, Chorus, Hook, Bridge, or Outro to change only that section. It can use a different Male/Female voice and the same five controls. The next section automatically returns to the main voice unless you override that section too.
Before you start
- An account on Toxic Sound with the Unrestricted Producer plan. Custom lyrics are Producer-only.
- Your lyrics — a poem, verses, a full song, or a rough draft.
- An idea of the genre and vocal type you want (you can experiment freely).
Step 1 — Format your lyrics
The AI performs your lyrics best when it can tell verses from choruses. You don't need exact section tags, but line breaks and an empty line between sections help. A simple shape that works:
[Verse 1] line one line two line three line four [Chorus] hook line hook line [Verse 2] ...
Repeat the chorus text where you want it repeated in the song. The AI treats your text literally — if you write the chorus once, it sings it once.
Write continuously
Each section is one open writing area. Type the whole verse, press Enter for a new line, and keep going — there is no annoying Add line button interrupting you every twelve seconds. Add Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, Hook, Bridge, or Outro sections whenever the song needs them.
Add production cues
Use the production-cue box under a section for Instrumental Break, Guitar Solo, Drum Solo, Bass Drop, Build-Up, Key Change, Vibe Change, Fade In, or Fade Out. You can also type your own direction. The cue lands as a bracketed line exactly where you add it:

Cues are directions, not lyrics. Keep them short and specific; the engine has better things to do than decode a paragraph about your dream drum fill.
Let the editor save your ass
Unfinished lyrics autosave while you type and restore when you come back. Once a song is successfully generated, that temporary draft is cleared. Delete Lyrics wipes the current draft but leaves a fresh Verse 1 box so you are never staring at a useless empty panel.
If you only have a rough idea, write it in the main song prompt and choose Format My Prompt. Review the structured lyrics and genre tags before you apply anything. Auto-Complete can also finish and organize fragments already in the editor.
Step 2 — Pick a genre
Genre drives instrumentation, tempo, and rhythm. Pick one — Toxic Sound generates one genre at a time so the arrangement is coherent. If your lyrics are aggressive and short, try Metal, Punk, or Hardcore Rap. If they're introspective, try Indie, Folk, or R&B. Not sure? Generate the same lyrics twice with two different genres and compare.
Step 3 — Build the vocal
Choose a genre first, then try one of the four Suggested vocals built for it. Or choose Male or Female, load a preset, and refine the five vocal controls. Match delivery to the line length: rapid or clipped styles suit dense bars, while breathy or storytelling styles need more space. Keep the selected gender intentional because it is enforced during generation.
If you nail a voice you want again, name it and save it as a preset instead of rebuilding the damn thing from memory next week.
Step 4 — Paste into the custom lyrics field
On Producer, open the Custom Lyrics page from the top menu. Build the song section by section or paste lyrics you already formatted, then hit "Generate Song With These Lyrics" to carry them into the studio. When custom lyrics are filled in, the AI ignores the theme prompt and performs your text verbatim — including explicit language, since Toxic Sound doesn't filter output.
Step 5 — Generate and iterate
Click Generate Track. In a minute or two the finished song appears in your history feed with an AI-generated cover image and a lyrics view that follows along with playback. If the delivery isn't what you wanted, regenerate with a different vocal type or a different genre — the lyrics stay the same, the performance changes.
Tips for better AI lyric performances
- Keep lines singable. If a line has more than ~12 syllables, the AI may rush it.
- Rhyme at the end of lines. Not required, but it tightens the melody the model produces.
- Repeat the hook. Write the chorus out every time it should recur.
- Match the genre to the mood. Screamed verses over an acoustic folk arrangement will fight each other.
- Regenerate freely. Same lyrics + same genre + same vocal type will still produce a different take each time.
- Cue sparingly. Two or three delivery shifts across a song land harder than a cue on every line.
- Save strong vocal setups. Reuse a named preset when its five settings produce the singer you want.
Export for video (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)
Tap the clapperboard icon on any finished track. This prepares your song's audio for short-form video — it doesn't make a video for you. Drop the exported file into CapCut, Premiere, or the TikTok/Instagram editor.
